Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Confirmed for PS5

Square Enix has finally confirmed that Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 will be released on PS5, putting to rest rumors that it would be a PS6 exclusive. The Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy has been a long-awaited project, and with Rebirth launching midway through the PS5's lifecycle, fans speculated that the final installment might require an upgraded console.

Possible Xbox Release on the Horizon

Producer Yoshinori Kitase and director Naoki Hamaguchi suggested that Part 3 may reach other platforms, such as Xbox. No official confirmation has been made, but this aligns with rumors circulating that the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy will be on Xbox before the final part is released. If that happens, though, a staggered release is expected due to PlayStation's timed exclusivity agreement.

Development Progress and Expected Timeline

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is still in development for only nine months, which started immediately after Rebirth's completion. Lucky for the game, the story is already done, and it can reuse many of the assets and mechanics from the previous games, which can make the game develop faster. With the four-year gap between Remake and Rebirth, Square Enix may have streamlined its workflow to avoid another wait that is similarly long.

PS6 Version Still Possible

While the game is confirmed for PS5, that doesn't rule out a potential PS6 version. With Sony rumored to launch its next-gen console around 2027–2028, Square Enix could optimize Part 3 for both generations. Regardless, fans can rest assured that they won't need to upgrade their consoles to experience the conclusion of this iconic trilogy.
