Alright, folks, let’s talk Metal Gear. Cause honestly, when aren't we talking about it? Konami, in a move that’s either brilliant or slightly terrifying (or maybe both!), is straight-up asking us which Metal Gear Solid game deserves the remake treatment next. Seriously!
It all started with a "Metal Gear – Production Hotline at TGS2025 Post-viewing survey." I mean, the name alone sounds like something straight outta Codec. But buried within questions about how Konami communicates with its fans is the real gold: what Metal Gear Solid titles do we wanna see brought back to life?
The Burning Question: Which Game, Though?
Now, they did offer some options in the survey. We don’t have the specifics yet but the most intriguing part is the text box for "other" suggestions. So, if you’re secretly (or not so secretly) craving a Metal Gear Survive remake, now's your chance to shout it from the rooftops – or, y'know, type it into a text box. I'm not judging. Okay, maybe a little. But hey, everyone's got their guilty pleasures, right?
But here's the thing: is Metal Gear Survive really what people want? I kinda doubt it. Most folks are probably hoping for the original Metal Gear Solid, right? A proper, ground-up remake of Shadow Moses? I know that’s what's on my wishlist. Imagine that snowy landscape, those iconic characters, all brought to life with modern graphics. Chef's kiss.
And the timing couldn't be better. We got Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater doing gangbusters, surpassing a million sales on its first day! So clearly interest in the franchise is very high.
The Metal Gear Network (@MGSMGN) on Twitter pointed this out, and frankly, they're asking the right questions. But, it does makes you wonder... why ask at all?

Konami's scheduling another Metal Gear Production Hotline livestream for September 25th – which, coincidentally (or not?), is the launch date for the next Silent Hill game. Coincidence? I think not! Expect more news then. I know I'll be glued to my screen, refreshing Twitter every five seconds.
So, what are the possibilities? Let’s break it down:
- Metal Gear Solid 1: The obvious choice. It’s the game that catapulted the franchise into legendary status. A full remake would be HUGE.
- Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty: Controversial, sure, but it's a masterpiece of its own. Raiden's debut? The mind-bending plot twists? It'd be amazing to see it reimagined.
- Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots: Technically impressive for its time, but maybe a bit too reliant on cutscenes. Still, a modern remake could fix that.
- Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker: Underrated gem! The gameplay was fantastic, and the story was surprisingly compelling. A Metal Gear remake of this would be a refreshing change.
- Something Totally Unexpected: Let's be real, Konami loves to surprise us. Maybe they'll pull a fast one and remake Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. Now that would be something.
My Personal Take
If I'm being honest, my heart screams for a Metal Gear Solid remake of the original. Shadow Moses holds a special place in my gaming memories. I remember being blown away by the story, the characters, the gameplay. It was unlike anything I'd ever experienced. I mean, who didn't try to sneak past the guards in a cardboard box?
Plus, it would open the door for a whole new generation of gamers to experience the magic of Metal Gear Solid. And hey, maybe they'd finally understand why we old-school fans are so obsessed.
Ultimately, Konami has a tough decision to make. But one thing's for sure: whatever they choose, the Metal Gear remake is going to be a massive deal. The gaming world is watching. No pressure, Konami. No pressure at all.
